Martin Gittins is an emerging visual artist, currently immersed in landscape painting working primarily in oils. He is drawn to the tension that exists between the urban and rural, and creates work that blends real and imagined elements of both the built environment and the natural world. Living in the North York Moors National Park, he is inspired by the landscape of the moors and its contested relationship of nature and artifice.
Originally trained as an architect, Martin graduated with an MA in Design and Theory in Architecture from the Birmingham School of Architecture in 1994. Since then Martin Gittins has worked in the design industry for the last 20 years as strategic design leader and practitioner in interaction design, UX and UI design.
